Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa amended several articles of the Identity Card Law.
Under the new amendments, handicapped people, children younger than one year old, and people above the age of 70 are to be exempted from fingerprinting.
The ID will be valid for five years for under-70s and for ten years for those over the age of 70 years old.
Bahrainis will pay BD2 when applying for a new ID or renewing their old one, while the fee for replacing a damaged or lost card will be BD4. Non-Bahrainis will be charged BD10 in either case
