GCC delegation upon their visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain applied the actual experience of the process of registration GCC citizens who want to use the e-gates and the experience of the unified GCC reading program of identity cards and the usage of electronic gates by the ID card for the GCC citizens.
At CIO meeting with the GCC delegation, who has done the actual experiment, said the Director of Technical Resources Elham Saleh in the Organization; that applying the e-gate service in Bahrain International Airport will facilitate and quick the check-in within a few minutes. The passengers are free to choose between going through the passport offices to check their travel or through the e-gate.
Elham Saleh explained that the CIO devoted an office in Bahrain International Airport located on the ground floor, where the GCC citizens will be able to register in this office before they travel and use the e-gate.
The GCC delegation praised the new service to the GCC citizens, which will reduce the pressure on the passport staff at the airport, which can verify the identity of the traveler faster than the traditional method currently used.
The delegation accompanied by specialists in the CIO to visit to the departures lounge at the airport for the experience of traveling through the e-gate, as enables the Qatari delegation members after registering their vital information to pass smoothly through the gate.
The specialists were: Head of Statistics and Information Technology Thabi Alshurooqi, Head of Bahrain Airport passports Abdulrahman Alammadi, Director of Information Development Nazeeh Aljowder, and Director of Technical Resources Elham Saleh.
The visit comes within the framework of joint cooperation between the GCC and the implementation of the recommendations of the Steering Committee for the smart card in the GCC that recommended at the seventh meeting to form a team to follow up the countries implementation of the smart card reader program electronically in the ports between the GCC and e-gates.
There will be a real test for the e-gate with Oman in the near future, and will be announced later about the date to start using the -gates at Bahrain International Airport by the brothers in Qatar.
The Qatari delegation included both Abdul Rahman Almaliki and Ahmed ALhammer and the Omani delegation included Mohiuddin Busaidi and Nasser Al Hosni.
