CIO Receives the Award for Outstanding Achievement in GIS from the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), 2011

Central Informatics Organisation (CIO) represented by the Directorate of GIS, has received an international award for Outstanding Achievement in GIS from the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) in 2011 which is world leader in GIS. Out of 150000 programs participated from the whole world, Bahrain was given this award. A CIO representative received this award in the annual Conference arranged by (ESRI) in the USA with participation from different countries.

This award indicates the level of the modern applications and types of Geospatial data which has been built and used by CIO to perform practical applications which assist in the development of the management of the infrastructure and the provision of services.

CIO has prepared ambitious plans to improve the GIS in Bahrain. The Directorate of GIS currently is executing a strategic program and plan to put the Kingdom in line with the developed countries in this field, and this award is the best proof for that.
