The Kingdom of Bahrain participate the world in all conditions, it celebrates the World Statistics Day of, which the international community allocated a day called by its name which marks 20 of October. For the second time in a row the United Nations celebrates this day and this celebration comes to emphasize the importance of development indicators and communities’ growth or decline. Bahrain today after exceeding its crisis, will continue in developing and repairing what impact the country, where it began through the National Dialogue, which was supported by statistics and indicators to benefit from them, and here comes the role of the Central Informatics Organization to be supportive of the decision and provides the people with all needed statistics to help them reform their policies
We have seen how the dialogue raise the statistical demands, and the development also has continuously statistical demands, so we need to review what has been done from the achievements where is the most important implementation was the General Census of Population, Housing and Establishment, which was based on administrative records in 2010 and made the Kingdom the first Arab country to adopt this approach, and this is what we wanted and we seek to continue
While we still completing our work to implement the first strategy to build statistical capacity to provide economic statistics as a progress goal according to dissemination systems of public and private sectors data which recommended by the International Monetary Fund, was necessary on the other hand to develop an integrated statistical system falls below the all community sectors that target in the economic development plan, and avoid duplication of government statistical work and determined by the most important statistics and implementation methodologies and those responsible for them, each according to their mandate and competence and make them available to use for everyone, whether from inside or outside
And after we studied the international community experiences in seeking to provide statistical, we found that the most appropriate model for developing our statistical system is what was provided by the statistical organization "Association for Statistical Development - Paris 21" emanating from the "Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development - (OECD). It is an international model to build statistical strategies to integrate statistical work among the sectorial data producers on the part of each other, and between data users and estimate their statistical needs to provide it for them. This model won the world‘s approval and adopted in many countries, and also it won the acceptance of specialists in Bahrain, after consultation with them and take their views
On this World Day of Statistics we started consulting with the "Association for Statistical Development - Paris 21”, and this organization will provide us with global expertise in supporting statistical development strategies. But its implementation at this time will be in consultation with all national partners involved in producing the data, and the preparation and implementation will be based widely on statistical partnership, it will include also clear roles for National System of Statistics partners, and determine the regulatory framework for implementation and preparation of interim activities schedule and determine the human and financial resources to implement its goals
Getting the effective logistical support, care and financing contribute from the “Middle East and North Africa Investment Center - Mina" which follows the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), which aims to develop and encourage investment in the region helped Bahrain to get the Statistics solidarity to develop the national statistics, and the sponsorship that we get had an effective impact on cooperation, "Paris 21". And its contribution to develop the national statistics infrastructure and raise its capabilities will effect and benefit the investors and investment policy-makers. As this cooperation will result transferring of knowledge and exchanging experiences on the best way to design and implement statistical strategies among the states member in "Mina" by scientific workshops are being planned to be held in Bahrain
In the World Statistics Day we will mention that the Statistics Center of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) began to establish its first steps in the footsteps of other regional groupings, and will provide Gulf cooperation in raising the Statistical Coordination, programming the statistical activities, unifying concepts and approaches, effective coordination with the international statistical system and also activate the statistical strategy for the GCC countries and raising the national capacity to implement them
