The Central Informatics Organization is conducting the third survey to measure the volume of Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in the Kingdom of Bahrain from November 2011 to January 2012, and the Organization implement the second phase of this project which is collecting data from the relevant institutions of foreign investments.
To success this important survey, the CIO asks the relevant institutions to cooperate with the field researchers to ensure the success of the study to provide its indicators to the public supporting the decision-makers and in order to achieve continued economic development.
The survey aims to build accurate database of foreign investment statistics in the Kingdom to provide the decision makers with accurate statistics and recent data on foreign investment to enable them taking the necessary decisions to create the right climate attracting these investments, provide statistical data and configure an integrated database for the foreign investment survey of those activities, identifying the role of foreign investment in current and future development of the national economy and distribute foreign investment in the Kingdom according to the economic sector and then show the extent of its impact on various sectors.
It also aims to identify the sources of foreign investment in the Kingdom (the geographical distribution by country), provide information of foreign investment impact on the Bahraini economy in areas of employment, exports and imports and international services in addition to the indebtedness of the private sector, as well as determine the type of investment to ensure the maximum amount of backward and forward linkages to develop the other sectors not covered by foreign investment.
The third survey depends on the recommendations issued by international organizations and global standards to measure the investments flow by non-residents in Bahrain as well as investments by residents abroad for fiscal years 2009 and 2010. The survey also hopes to determine the concept of institutions for investment opportunities in Bahrain as well as their evaluation of the investment environment the difficulties faced by the investors before and during the conduct of investment activities in Bahrain.
