Dr. Khalid Al Haidan the Director of Geographical Information System Directorate of the Central Informatics Organisation has been elected as a member in the Global Spatial Data Infrastructure Association in the elections that took place in Quebec City in Canada within the board 13th meeting, and Dr. Al Hidan was chosen as a member to representative the government sector.
That was after arriving the final stage of the elections and winning in the final round on the Chilean Maria Loreto with difference of votes, noting that the Global Spatial Data Infrastructure Association comes a follower of the United Nations and the States that have the full membership in the Council have the right to vote in elections.
The Global Spatial Data Infrastructure Association includes more than 70 developed nations and the presence of a Bahraini member will reflect to benefits the development plans in all terms.
In this context Dr. Khalid Al Hidan said that this election is a an achievement for the Kingdom of Bahrain and not of his own, pointing out that this election confirms what the high level of efficiency that the human resources and Bahrainis minds has reached, and that was as a result of the GIS system in the Kingdom supporting in general and also the CIO support.
He added that the Global Spatial Data Infrastructure Association sets policies of spatial information in the world and his presence in the Council will able the Kingdom to effect in decisions making at the global level in geographic information field.
Dr. Al Haidan conclude that this election and the membership confirms that the clear vision, which implemented 10 years ago was right and will drive us for the further work, and the human resources development program in the Kingdom, which is implemented by the GIS Directorate going in the right direction.
