The President of the Central Informatics Organization Dr. Mohammed Al Amer confirmed that the decisions issued by the Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa regarding the identity card aimed to facilitate procedures for citizens, especially the elderly and people with special needs and disabilities and those with persistent disease.
Dr. Mohammed Al Amer said: «The new amendments do not require the presence of these groups to the branches of identity card as before, fingerprint is no longer required for those under the age of one year or reached the age of seventy and older, the disabled and people with disabilities who are prevented by their sustained disability for taking the finger or eye print, this means that their presence in the identity card branches in the Central Informatics Organization is no longer required as long as they have submitted documents to prove their disability for the disabled, and prove the existence of the elderly alive ".
Al Amer pointed that one of the new amendments provide that the date of the validity of identity card starts from the date of issuance or renewal or the issuance of replacement of lost or corrupted card, He pointed also that in these cases the date of the card start immediately after the issuance of a new replacement card while before the date of issuance the new card comes with the same old card expiration date and this would make it easier for citizens and residents
