Dr. Khalid Al Haidan, Director of Geographical Information System of the CIO said that had been Filming a new space of the Kingdom in 19th January 2012 by satellite of Dubai for the first time, in a move that reflects the great extent of cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by the CIO and the Emirate of Dubai accurately 2.5 meters. The filming has covered all areas of the Kingdom, including the part of the regional water where covered about 1953 square kilometers of area of the Kingdom.
He added that the satellite images are an important source of the update at the this time, with a new satellite can get high resolution to meet the purposes of update, which will be used to update the roads, buildings, and important areas and calculate the area of the Kingdom and to identify and update the coast and other important uses. The pictures of new space also will be provided to all relevant in a move aims to reduce the costs and duplication of work.
He concluded by explaining that the CIO and through the past years created a section of the management of remote sensing in the GIS Directorate, and continued building capacity until it reached an advanced stage of technical competence and training. And the use of satellite images has become to conduct studies and several other new projects, adding that the Directorate is able to meet the needs of the Kingdom of satellite images and outputs.
